Current Stats for COVID-19 in Illinois and How to Stay Safe

COVID-19 has recently started spiking again in Illinois. What does this mean for its residents? See how COVID-19 has been spiking in the state and what measures you can take to prevent infection.

As COVID-19 begins a new spike in Illinois, many wonder when the pandemic is truly going to end. As seen in figure 1A, there is a current surge in COVID-19 positive cases and there is no approved vaccine. Gatherings in most of the state are still restricted to 50 people or less, while regions with a high 7 day positivity rate are seeing tighter restrictions.

Although current numbers are disheartening, it is not time to lose hope. Figure 1A shows just some of the measures people can take to prevent getting infected with COVID-19. Wearing a mask around others, constantly disinfecting surfaces, social distancing and avoiding big social gatherings are some of the measures people can take to prevent spreading the virus.
